Visited Elephants Eye bar in the pool area New Year's Eve. Fast, friendly bartenders and strong drinks. Only stayed for an hour or so as we had to get home but it was a good time.
Every time we travel through Nebraska and need a midpoint stop, we stay at Ramada Kearney. Why? Carlos and his fresh omelettes at breakfast (huge breakfast buffet included with room price) plus a newly added late afternoon Manager's Reception in the lobby for weary travelers (also complementary), wonderful bedding, sweet staff, and many positive attempts to bring this grand-dame hotel/resort back to her full glory. Great pool and spa, too. The room rate also is very, very reasonable!
The rooms were modern and clean. The beds were comfortable. The amazing pool has been either broken or freezing cold all five times I have been there. The hot tub was nice. The breakfast here is AMAZING. Ever option you could want: oatmeal, cereal, muffins, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, and made-to-order omelettes. If you need a good breakfast before leaving, this is the best spot in town!!!!
My family chose to stay at this Ramada in Kearney because our son was playing in a youth basketball event. The event partnered with the hotel for a discounted rate. We took them up on the offer. We were excited to see they had a "fun dome" with a pool and hang out area for our kids and team to run around. The pool was decent but it was very dark and muggy with no ventilation. The smell was the kind of smell that you can't really wash out of your clothes. The room we walked into was very old, dirty and smelly. Not a single window for fresh air, not even a fan in the bathroom to help move the air. The shower head was broken and sprayed onto the ceiling (water marks and stains from years of leaks), and the stench of mildew was overwhelming. The faucet was broken and pulled out from the wall exposing the pipes as the water poured down the wall back in behind it. We thought, we can get through this. Then night time came. Walking through the pool area, a biker gang and hung up banners, wheeled in coolers stuffed with hard liquor and the basically took over the entire area. Along with that there was a Christmas party going on in the conference room right by the pool area. The parties raged long into the night until my wife had had enough with our kids being woken up by unsupervised children playing soccer up and down the hallway, bikers partying, and a DJ that had his sound system cranked. My wife went to the front desk only to find there was no manager on duty and that the parties were supposed to subside at 10pm. After a night of no sleep and a breakfast served of under cooked eggs, kids with stomach issues, the smell of mildew in our clothes and terrible customer service we have decided to take the time to write a review. I can't imagine anyone who stays here could ever give it a favorable rating. We called the management only to be disappointed by the tone. She clearly said it was a policy of theirs to never refund a room due to noise. Well it was much more than the noise and it was clear after talking with them that the reason the hotel was so run down was because of poor management. Wyndham Hotels should look into this dump. There is a zero percent chance the food they serve at breakfast would pass a health code inspection.
This place has value! It's a some what dated place but don't let that stop you! Very nice pool and big hot tub. Potent cool bar. Yes it has deficiencies but if you consider the price and the very nice breakfast and amenities I highly recommend this place. Now, if your into new and unblemished then pass.
